This week we’re going to have a little look at a section of Photoshop that gets very little use from the normal person – actions. They’re commonly thought of as an advanced user thing, but that’s far from the truth. At their most basic level, actions can really help with your day-to-day Photoshop work and really help cut down the time you spend on mundane, repeatable tasks.
At their higher level, actions become a kind of scripting language that can be tailored to your exact needs. We’ll go into this section of actions at a later date as it will require a series of tutorials and even an regular article or two, but until then let’s start with the basics and go from there.
