I’m a pretty open-minded guy, which is unusual for a Brit if you take the stereotypical “No sex please, we’re British!” as the truth. In fact, while England may have some very archaic laws regarding pornography and the depiction of the sexual act, the population as a whole is just as interested in getting their freak on as the rest of the world.

By contrast the rest of Europe is leaps and bounds ahead of us. I’m half-Italian and I was always completely shocked as a teenager visiting my family over there. My cousins would take me to clubs (the legal drinking age out there is kind of a gray area – it really does depend on how well you know the club owner it seems) and I’d get a face-full of boobs at every turn. Just walking the streets during the summer was an adventure as well – more skin showing than you’d find in most strip clubs back home.

I’ve visited most of Europe and found pretty much the same thing – everyone is getting more and more open minded when it comes to sex and open displays of sexuality. We’re all still bound by the law of course, but the attitude of the population as a whole is coming around to the thought that, well, it’s there so enjoy it.

Webmasters themselves are above the norm. We see just about every act and fetish there is out there. You know how it is – once you’ve been working in this business for a while, it really doesn’t phase you. I didn’t even blink twice when I was confronted with three very attractive girls exchanging bodily fluids in Vegas. I browsed the toy stand with casual professional interest (trust me – finding a toy that photographs well for paysite designs is a challenge in itself) and I didn’t care less about the gaggle of very underdressed models patrolling the floor.

Of course there are exceptions to every rule, and I still can’t figure out if the threads and comments I see on various boards are simply jokes which I’m not privy to, or knee-jerk reactions by the younger sect of our industry. I’ve seen gay men openly attacked on boards, I’ve seen gay women suffer the same fate (isn’t this every man’s common-all-garden fantasy?) – but more worryingly I’ve seen a lot of hateful comments towards a smaller sub-section of the adult world; transsexuals.
We’ve coined them as “shemales” – chicks with dicks and all that jazz. Actually, a little research can do wonders for one’s insights. A transsexual is in the horrible position of being born into the wrong body. Be they male to female or vice versa, their brain has developed in the opposite direction from their body. Many theories are out there as to why this happens, but nothing concrete has been discovered as yet.

The hardships these women undergo (yes, I have absolutely no problem referring to them as women. Sue me) – years and years of hormone treatment, hideously expensive surgery and such. Some of them turn to the adult industry to help pay for this while others battle it out alone. The classic “shemale” is a little different – for the most part they are openly gay men who wish to appear female while retaining the use of their penises, something that would not be possible as hormones will kill the erectile functions pretty quickly.

At some point or another, everyone gets made fun of. That’s fine – I know I’ve had the piss taken out of me by my fellow webmasters on more than one occasion, but considering the industry we’re in, I think it’s time that certain webmasters grew up a little. We’re in the business of selling a fantasy – if that surfer’s fantasy is to be with two girls – great! Send them to a moresome or gangbang sponsor. If that surfer’s fantasy is for teens, then slam them over to one of the many great teen sites.

We’re all in this to make money and it amazes me when some webmasters say “I won’t do gay galleries” or “I won’t promote anything but straight shit” and are the first to drop comments on threads bashing those who do. At the end of the day, it’s none of our business what anyone wants to do with his or her own body. It’s none of our business what others do in their own private time – the only exception being those that get their kicks from kids. I report CP as soon as I see it (and thankfully, at least for me, the spams and such advertising this has dropped dramatically lately).

If they’re within the law, who cares?

If you cut out a section of the population for what they find attractive to them (i.e gay men, shemales or such) then you’re not only doing yourself out of a possible sale, you’re also closing your mind that little bit more – which cannot be a good thing in our industry. I've been working with a lot of TG content lately and here's a fun fact for all you haters out there – most TG content is considered a straight niche.

Till tomorrow, pimps!
