Video Tutorial – Beginner's Guide to Masks

I get asked about a lot of Photoshop stuff during the course of a normal week, but I’ve had quite a few people ask me about layer masks lately. I had another ICQ last week about it, so I thought it would make an excellent short video tutorial.
Layer masks are extremely powerful in Photoshop and once you understand the fundamentals, they expand the possibilities of a design endlessly. Without masks, some effects and layouts would be impossible to do without extensive pixel-level work. In this tutorial, I cover the basics of the mask, how to use them and give a few examples (including one of my favorite text effects ever) on their use.
As per usual, you can download the video here. It’s a zipped file so you’ll need to unzip it first before you can watch it.
