I got another ICQ asking a question about styles that I thought I should cover. It’s a simple thing but easily missed by most users (I myself only found out the easy way to do this a while ago) and essential for anyone who uses a lot of styles in their Photoshop work.

If you’re anything like me you probably mess around with text and layer effects, seeing what you can come up with. Sometimes you accidentally hit on something that looks really cool, but how do you save it? Some people save the entire document and use that as a template, dragging the layer into a new document. Some write down the settings but the easiest way to do keep that cool-looking layer effect is with custom styles.

It’s so simple I’m still amazed I missed it for so long, and you will to once I show you how easy it is to create your own styles that can be applied to just about any layer in Photoshop!

As per usual, you can download the video here. It’s a zipped file so you’ll need to unzip it first before you can watch it.

Many thanks for the ICQs and emails I’ve gotten so far and I’m glad you’re all enjoying the tutorials – if you want to see a subject covered in a future video, drop me an email to the usual address and I’ll see what I can do.

Until then, enjoy this week’s videos and don’t forget to check our front page every day for updated news, views and articles.

Until tomorrow, pimps!
