Last week the Consumer Electronics Show was on in Las Vegas about the same time as the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo and this year there's been some crossover between the two.

All sorts of interesting things have been on display at CES and it hasn't just been people interested in computers or gaming who have been had all the fun things previewed there.

Steve has been watching some interesting technology being unveiled there for the automotive industry and anyone who has a television set would have been interested in the 3D television sets that were on display.

While 3D television sets were on display they're not going to be released for sale till sometime around mid-year but that didn't stop at least one exhibitor over at the AVN Expo from having 3D porn movies on display.

It seems that Bad Girls in 3D has decided that it wants to be at the forefront of adult 3D entertainment and it's already shooting a couple of hours of adult movie action every week and uploading it to a member's area where people can download it for just $19.95 a month.

While you're not going to get the 3D effect on your computer you will be able to link your computer to your new 3D television and get right into all the 3D action ... just as soon as you can bring a 3D television home from the store.

So should we all be jumping on the 3D bandwagon and selling memberships in the site or even shooting our own 3D content to add to our own sites?

3D has been around for quite some time but it seems that Avatar and some new technology has really taken the whole 3D thing to a new level. The launch of 3D televisions is also an indication that this is almost certainly the time for 3D to really take off but ... will enough people actually buy 3D televisions to make selling 3D porn worthwhile.

In the short-term that may be a problem but I'm sure that before too long there will be plenty of 3D home entertainment systems being sold to make 3D porn very worthwhile and there are already a whole bunch of people jumping on the 3D porn theme.

If you're in any doubt then let me tell you that the very first 3D porn movie was actually produced back in 1969 with the early 3d technology and it grossed over $27 million dollars ... a rather large amount for those days.

You should also do a search for ‘3D porn' and you'll see that most of the really good domain names are already gone and sites are offering 3D porn content ... but you do have to wonder whether or not it really is 3D.

Obviously there will be some interest there already so if you want to take advantage of the 3D craze then now's the time to start grabbing your domain names and getting some advertising up there. Unfortunately Bad Girls in 3D doesn't seem to have an affiliate program but I'm sure it won't be long before some of the industry heavyweights bring out some 3D sites so it might pay to be ready to promote them.

Tougher times ahead?
No, I'm not talking about more financial woes here ... I'm talking about something else that Steve pointed out to me yesterday.

I'm sure that a lot of us felt that the hard times that the religious minority have been giving us may have eased a little with the election of a President from the Democrats but that may not necessarily be the case.

It seems opinion and beliefs tend to run in cycles and a cycle of religious and personal tolerance is almost always followed by a period when there's a lot of intolerance. Those periods of intolerance are the times when the adult industry really struggles as those with strong religious beliefs try to put us out of business.

Yesterday Steve pointed me to a piece about the rise of religious expression on the soccer field. It seems that more and more big football (soccer) stars are expressing their religious convictions on the playing field.

The person who wrote that piece suggested that it's not just limited to soccer and we might soon start seeing big names in a number of football codes begin to refuse to play on a Sunday.

While that's entirely up to those players and their beliefs I think it's a sure sign that this cycle of religious and personal intolerance is not yet over ... in fact it probably hasn't even reached its peak ... so that may be something you need to factor into your business plan in the year ahead.
