Unique Selling Points and Other Things

Over in mainstream, where competition really is probably even tougher than it is here, a few switched on people have been aware of the importance of having a unique selling point for quite some time.

Now unique selling points have been around for many years ... long before the Internet came along ... but they're not something that you see used here in adult. Here in adult we seem to have almost ignored unique selling points but it really is something you should be looking at if you want to gain some sort of edge over your competitors.

A unique selling point is the thing that makes your product ... or the product you're selling ... so much better than similar products that others might be selling. It's what makes the anal porn site that you're pushing so much better than the anal porn site the next adult marketer is trying to sell.

The unique selling point is the thing that makes people want to buy the product you're selling rather than the product someone else is selling. The unique selling point is what you really need to emphasis in your marketing message.

So what are some unique selling points for an adult product? Bigger, clearer images or video might be one unique selling point ... a bigger archive of hardcore video might be another. Perhaps download speed might be a unique selling point or a longer membership for the same price that others are charging for just 30 days might be another.

Whatever that unique selling point might be it's important to let your surfers know about it. Make sure that they can see a real reason why the product you're selling is better than all the rest and you will make more sales.

Of course that does raise the question of whether or not the product you're selling really does have a unique selling point. If it doesn't have a unique selling point ... and let's face it there are many adult sites out there that are just the same as all the others ... then it's going to be harder to make sales.

Of course you could try to invent a unique selling point but as soon as your surfers hit the sponsor's tour they're going to see through your attempt to spin something that's not unique at all.

Speed and pages crawled
You might find it helpful if we go back to the need for speed for just a few moments. I know that I've talked at length about Google's interest in the time it takes to load your web pages the past both here and over on Rated Hot but there's some very interesting information beginning to surface about it.

Earlier this week Matt Cutts ... the Man from Google ... went to some lengths in one of his videos to stress that page loading speed was just one of many ranking factors in Google's algorithm and that's undoubtedly true but how important a factor is it?

Well at least one person is fairly sure that they are beginning to see a direct link between the time it takes for the pages on a website to load and the number of pages in a website that Googlebot will crawl. The longer it takes for a site's pages to load the less number of pages that Google crawls.

While that's not going to be a major problem for those who are building free sites and galleries there are some who are building out much bigger sites and that's where page loading speed is really going to be important. If you've got a big site then you want Google to crawl as much of it as possible and it seems that won't happen if Google's measure of page loading speed shows that your site is slow to load.
